Nearly a Year Later's Update


I've been working very hard on this game for almost a year, been streaming the whole process over at twitch.tv/setolyx, and I'm finally at a point where we have a Tutorial Zone that I would love to have people check out!

There are still tons of issues, and lots of things both visual and mechanical are still very much in-development. I hope that updating this game can help me gain a bunch of super helpful input from all those lovely gamers out there who are looking to help someone make the best game they can.

Overall I've put 90% of my effort into making sure this game has all the mechanics that I would like it to have before moving forward. I finally feel confident that it's reaching a point where MOST features are in place, and the rest can easily be added as time goes on.

Included in this update are:

  1. A bunch of changes to the input (complete rewrite of inputs) - This includes controller compatibility, which at the moment is not stable
  2. improvements to combat (location based strikes, blocking has been improved, parrying now exists)
  3. an entire dialogue tree system which is used to dispense lore and other helpful info to the player
  4. the beginnings of some art passes (though most art you see in this demo will be changed/updated over time)
  5. Equipment & Inventory system with item durability, repairing, etc.
  6. More upgrades for the player to make upon death (though the UI is currently not working properly)
  7. And a ton more of little fixes and added features that I can't think of right now, because I've been working on this game for the past 294 days (minus weekends and occasional off-days) so I'm hopeful everything works out!
