Day 21 Update


Today was definitely a very productive one. Knocked out a bunch of to-do's and overall had a good time doing it! At this point I'm starting to actually feel like the tutorial zone isn't absolutely rife with bugs and unforeseen consequences!! Very happy to note that the changes I've made to combat definitely feel a lot better, and overall I intend to spend some time fine-tuning things before moving forward into art.

With that said, I don't have much on my mind today so I'll just keep things short and jump to the changelog. Thanks a bunch for reading and I hope to keep up the solid progress!!

Changelog:

  • modified collision triggers to have enable/disable functionality
  • made sure this functionality is saved 
  • modified elder to have NO dialogue until reaching the inside of his house 
  • modified npc behavior to have two different types of behaviours when it comes to talking to the player (from a distance & walk-up) 
  • modified billy to now notice the player walking up to the cave after their death instead of waiting to talk 
  • elder NPC should no longer remain in home after talking to him 
  • elder should also properly close and lock his door after boss dies 
  • hopefully fixed infinite rotation in doors & made the open/close movements smoother 
  • summoned NPC's now track their summoner and die when they die 
  • reduced player's starting HP to 15 
  • increased tutorial NPC's health to 15 & gave them a random weapon & a health potion 
  • modified combat system to track attackers and targets 
  • ^modified NonPlayerController to modify these lists 
  • also modified NonPlayerController to hopefully respect this list and pick a new target from the remaining entries (so if multiple units strike unit A, unit A will attack them each in order of attack when its target dies)
