Mode Swings

This game was made for and submitted to the BigMode Game Jam! What does exist in the game was made entirely by myself, and I worked on it live on my twitch stream.

Controls:

W/A/S/D	Move
Space	Jump

The idea: 

In this short experience, you play as a character constantly battling between the modes of their mind. Be it Mania, Sorrow, or proper Balance, they are pursued by figures that wish to sway them from any sort of stability.

Each state of the character's mind (Illustrated by changes to lighting, fog, interactables, etc.) has its own trade-offs, and the goal was that you would have to leverage each to be able to properly complete puzzles, and survive combat.

The Reality:

Total failure to budget time and essentially something that runs but has nothing to do. 💀 There are working mechanics for combat, ledge climbing, etc. But I failed to make anything to actually.. use them on.. Still had a ton of fun working on it, and at least I did make everything by myself beyond leveraging Unity's new input system, so there's something to be proud of.

End of jam notes:

Unfortunately I am terrible at managing my dev time, and over-scoped for the time I did put in. So, as a result, I have mechanics sort of laid out, a tiny bit of art sort of added, and sounds/music not implemented at all. Definitely learned that even with 2 and a half weeks, if I'm chatting and working on my bot during streams, I'm not gonna get as much done as I'd like! 😅

 Had a blast and just wish I'd managed my time better. Hopefully the next time I can show a better example of what I can do in a short-term.
