Hordes of Night

Submitted for the Twitch 2024 Game Jam, Hordes of Night is a wave-based topdown shooter where there are many zombies, all running to one player. Fend off your own community as you try to re-enforce windows and keep them at bay long enough to claim victory.

Community members may redeem the Buy Spawn Tokens reward during the first 30 seconds of a round to purchase spawn tokens.

Then, during the spawning timer, they are allowed to !spawn a horde, and !attack a window (numbers shown on screen edges are the windows they may attack)

The moment a chatter's zombies are in the building, they may spawn more, until they are out of spawn tokens or the round ends.

Commands:

Command Description	Usage
Spawn zombies at random or at a specific spawn point	'!spawn' or '!spawn 2'
Order your zombies to attack	'!attack 2'
Double the speed of your zombies if alive, but you may only do so once	'!sprint'

Post-Jam notes:

I'd like to apologize for the absolute mess of a state the game is in. Lack of UI or really any instruction for the player makes this a rough experience and I appreciate anyone who does give it enough time to see what I was trying to accomplish.

As per usual with my jam entries, I ran into some issues both in dev and personally, but this time I got MUCH closer to an actually complete entry, I even got art in (except for the parts that didn't import correctly)!

Beyond some unfortunate inconsistencies between my build and my editor-side gameplay, things MAY work enough to play on your end, in which case you will be able to play many rounds of increasing and unbalanced difficulty. :)

I'm going to continue to work on this on stream the next few days and at least get it playable and usable, updates will be provided via a second downloadable labeled Post-Jam Build as to follow the game jam upload rules and not modify my submitted version.
